Livin' it Up on The Southside

If you were to walk by our home, you would see Eric in the garage working on the "Hot Rod." Chase riding his bike up and down the sidewalk like a madman, and Rachel (myself) chasing (we named him well!) after him, telling him to slow down, and Anthony trying to be just like his big brother.

Driving 101 by Chase

I was driving on the Interstate the other day and Chase says to me. "Mom do you know what the number rule for driving is?" I told him I didn't. He says, "You have to keep you eyes on the road." How does a 4 1/2 year old know that? I know I would never had said that at his age. I am just waiting to see what other sage wisdom my son has to bestow on me!

Going Zonkers

We wanted to take the boys out to have some fun. Rob suggested Zonkers, which is a family entertainment center. They have a kiddie roller coaster, a train and flying bananas. The boys were up by 7am, so we were out of the house by 10am. Last time we went we were able to buy Chase a toddler pass, which is only 5.99, but this time the guy said he was too tall. So we ended up buying him 10 tickets for the rides and 20 bucks worth of tokens. So we had to spread out the rides over the time we were there. Rob did a good job of getting Chase to play a lot of the other games. Our goal was to get as many tickets as we could for the $20 bucks.

Anthony's toddler pass allowed him to ride any of the rides as many times as he wanted. It wasn't too busy, since we were there before lunch, so the girl let him ride the flying bananas over and over. He didn't know how to make it go up and down, so he just went around in a circle. So while I stood there watching him, I talked to the girl operating the ride. This turned out to be to my advantage. When it was time for Chase to pick out his toys, she let us have a race car that was 100 tickets more than we had. We were prettied excited because we managed to win 525 tickets. We ended up having an hour and half of fun for 35 bucks. Not exactly a bargain basement deal, but we all enjoyed ourselves.

Hittin' the Road

Anytime we go out of town for the weekend, Chase says we are going on vacation. Sunday will be 5 years since Eric's mom passed away. So we wanted to go to the cemetary to bring flowers. Miranda and Rob are going to come over too. So we decided we would go down early to visit. The boys really love their aunt and uncle.

The snow started flying around 3pm and it stopped at 6pm. We left our house at 5:55pm. We started heading down to SE 14th to get to they bypass. Before we got to SE14th, we saw that the traffic was backed way up. So we turned around and headed out a different way. We got to Indianola Ave. and there was a 3 car pile up. So we had to turn around and go back. We finally got onto SE14th and cars were driving 20 mph. We only had 2 inches of snow. It was ridiculous. We finally got on the bypass at 6:20pm. People were driving like we never had snow before! Hello we live in the Midwest, this is what is to be expected.

Our trip to Kansas City took 4.5 hours. We normally make it in 3 hours and 15 minutes. It was a very frustrating trip down. We were both tired, and were cross with one another. However, Eric was hell bent on driving down Friday night. At least Anthony slept for 3 hours of the trip. I was so happy to be there.

Friday Wrap Up

I'm really frustrated because I want to post some pictures, and I can't get Photobucket to do it. So I will try to figure that out. Anywho a lot has been going on. I will time travel back to the end of January. The 30th was Anthony's 18 month check up. The doctor check's his ears and they were both infected. She then looks at his throat and he has strep. So needless to say he didn't get shots nor see his ear specialist.

The Friday before Superbowl was girls poker night at Marnie's. We played Apples to Apples before we started playing cards. I had heard good things about the game, but had never gotten to play it. So I was very excited to check it out. It was a blast and I almost won for my first try! Texas Hold 'Em was a blast. I was trying really hard to lose my $5, but I would end up winning, because I was bluffing. It felt good to leave with what I came with.

Superbowl Sunday Eric left for Kansas City. He had training for work all week. Marnie and Ryan came over to play and watch the game. Marnie made delicious crab enchiladas for us. Chase plays really well with both boys. Now if we could get Ryan and Tony to do the same! It is apparent that they don't know what sharing is yet. If one of them had something, the other wanted it. I don't know how many times Marnie and I said, "Nice hands boys."

On Saturday night, the 10th the Elk's Lodge had their Valentine's Day dinner and show. We went with our friends Justin and Angie. They served us steak and grilled shrimp, salad, baked potato, rolls and sherbert for dessert. We then went upstairs for the show. We were very excited because they hired our friend Alan Robuck to sing. He is an Elvis impersonator and his 17 year old son sings Johnny Cash and Fats Domino really well. We had a blast. Angie and I danced a lot and Eric even asked to me to dance 4 times. I believe that is a new record!

On Tuesday I took Anthony back to the doctor and he had his shots and his ear doctor looked at his ears. He still saw some fluid, so he wanted him on another round of antibiotics. We go back in three weeks and he said at that time he might have to suction his ear out, oh joy!
