Livin' it Up on The Southside

If you were to walk by our home, you would see Eric in the garage working on the "Hot Rod." Chase riding his bike up and down the sidewalk like a madman, and Rachel (myself) chasing (we named him well!) after him, telling him to slow down, and Anthony trying to be just like his big brother.

Anthony Roaring

The Saturday before Halloween we took the boys to the Elk's Lodge for the party. All the kids dressed up. They had a lot of games and a kid size haunted house. Chase played pumpkin bowling and had his face painted. Anthony played the marshmallow toss. He ate 2 of his marshmallows while playing! They had a costume contest. Anthony came in second. He wore a dinosaur costume that Delana had made for one of her nieces. Then they served hot dogs and chips. It was all free to members. The kids took home a ridiculous amount of candy, with more to come. I had to hide some it.

Our Little Monster

I took the boys to "Night Eyes" at the zoo. Tony dressed up as Sully from "Monsters Inc." and Chase went as Ninja. They got lots of goodies and then had fun playing on the inflatibles at the end. It wasn't too crowed, so I let them play for an hour. They were pretty tired out by the time we left.

Chase's Big Find

Pumpkin Patch

I am back tracking. Two weeks before Halloween we went to the Pumpkin patch/Apple Orchard that Chase went to on his 1st field trip. He said it was so much fun, so we went with our friends Justin and Angie and their two kids. We got lost in the corn maze, so Justin blazed a trail through the stalks to get us out. Chase picked out a pumpkin and then we played on the pedal tractors, fed the goats and then played in "The Three Little Pigs" houses. We ended staying there for almost three hours.

Visiting

Friday night after work we headed to Merriam, KS to visit Miranda and Rob. This was our second trip without the DVD player. It stopped working on the way to WI at the beginning of October. It is a little frustrating, since we just bought it at the end of April. It didn't have that many hours on it.

By the time we got on the road it was 5:30pm and dark. Chase turned on the light over his seat and drew for awhile. I talked to Tony. We stopped in Oseola for dinner, and then after that Chase went to sleep. Anthony stayed up until 8pm, and then finally fell asleep. We arrived around 9:15pm. So we made it. On the way home it will be light. I brought lots of books to read, crayons and coloring books, and Crayola finger paints. So I should be able to entertain the kids on the way home.

Saturday was a beautiful sunny day in the low 60's. We took the boys to the park to play, while Eric drove to pick up the snow blower we bought off of Ebay. The guy lived 80 miles away from Miranda and Rob's. Once he was back, we headed off to eat a late lunch at a restaurant called "T-Rex." It looked awesome. There were dinosaur bones all over and a huge skeleton of a T-Rex. We went in and found out the wait was an hour and 10 minutes. We couldn't make the boys wait that long, so we went to Dave & Busters. Originally the wait was 45 minutes, but a table in first come, first serve opened up. So we were able to sit down right away. There is a huge game room attached to the restaurant, but the majority of games are for adults. They gave the boys each a token, however most the games take a card. So I finally found a game that took the token. However, there was nothing to it. You put the token in and it spits out tickets. Well, it only gave them 5 tickets. It wasn't enough to get anything from the prize counter. So Chase was upset and begging to get a game card. I held my ground and we went back to the table. He gave me a guilt trip and said he wasn't having any fun and wanted to go back to T-Rex. There is a huge gift shop, including a Build a Bear shop that make dinosaur's instead. We told him next time we will make reservations.

Saturday night we went to the Shriner Circus. Miranda's sister, Donna had free tickets for us to go. We had tried to get Anthony to take a nap late afternoon, but it futile. I had a great 2 hour nap! We head downtown to KC, and discovered Garth Brooks was also playing too. So traffic was awful. We did manage to get into a parking garage and made it to our seats with 10 minutes to spare. We made it through an hour and half. Then we looked over and both boys were fast asleep. The dancing bears were on of our favorites. They can also ride bikes. They looked so adorable. The trapeze act was good too. We refused to buy the $3 light up toys for $10! Eric had to carry Chase out and I had Anthony. We didn't feel bad leaving, since the tickets were free.

Halloween

Chase enjoyed trick or treating as a clown. The next day he still had green eyebrows!

Coffee

We were driving home last night and Chase asks, "Does college or high school come first?" I told him first high school and then college. He then says, " Do I have to drink coffee in college?" I told him he didn't. Some people drink coffee for the caffeine and others enjoy the taste. He says, "Good, I only want to drink water. Coffee makes people lose their mind." I had started drinking decaf over the last 4 months, but now I have stopped again. So he says, "I am so glad you found your mind again mom." I just had to laugh. I didn't know decaf made me so crazy. He normally just complained that my breath stunk when I kissed him good bye. :)
