Livin' it Up on The Southside

If you were to walk by our home, you would see Eric in the garage working on the "Hot Rod." Chase riding his bike up and down the sidewalk like a madman, and Rachel (myself) chasing (we named him well!) after him, telling him to slow down, and Anthony trying to be just like his big brother.

Out of the Mouths of Babes

We were looking at a photo album and Anthony found a family picture of Eric, Chase and myself. He pointed to Chase and said, "That is me." I told him no, that is Chase when he was 18 months old. Chase pipes up, "Tony you were in mommy's tummy." I tell them no, I wasn't pregnant then. Chase says, "That's right, mom's egg wasn't cracked yet."

Saturday afternoon we went to eat at Spaghetti Works. It was the first time we had taken the boys there. As we are getting ready to leave Chase says, "I can't wait for them to start shooting spaghetti." Eric and I look at him and ask, "What do you mean?" Chase says, "It says Spaghetti Works, isn't that like fireworks?" We had a good laugh. It never dawned on us, but it made sense to him.

Pine Island

Tuesday was windy and only 60 degrees, but we headed to the beach anyways to play in the sand. It is a six mile drive from my grandparents house. When we arrived, there was a sign posted that the water had a high bacteria count, swimming was not advised. This worked out well, since it was cold and the tide was out.

On Friday we went back and the tide was in. The kids really wanted to go in. I told them they could only get their feet wet. Other parents were letting their kids swim in it. What part of "Swiming not advised" did they not get? Anthony kept saying, "There are germs in that water mommy." He got it!

Pool Time

We made sure to go in the pool every day we were there. By Friday, the water was 92 degrees. It was great for the kids. Chase and Anthony worked on their swimming. Anthony was working on coordinating his kicking and arms and Chase mastered going underwater and kicking. Anthony's favorite thing to do was shoot hoops. We would play that for at least twenty minutes every day. Eric and I played "Horse" one day. It looked like he was going to kick my butt, however in the end I pulled off the upset. Chase thought is was hilarious that we were playing a game called, "Horse!"

Vacation

Vacation couldn't come soon enough. I am overloaded at work and this long winter has taken its toll. We flew on Allegient out of Des Moines with a direct flight to St. Petersburg, on Monday March 24th. We left 20 minutes late, but made up the time in the air. The kids were great. Chase sat by the window, Anthony was in the middle and I was on the aisle. Eric was one seat in front of me. I packed lots of activities for us. We played Dora Bingo, we read books, we played with the Play-doh, and had snack time. However, neither boy wanted to nap on the plane!

Grandma and Grandpa met up at the airport and took us out to lunch at "Aunt Chilada's." It was delicious. I had a spinach quesadilla with grilled veggies and black beans. Yum! When we got home the first thing the boys wanted to do was swim. It was only 60 degrees out, but the pool was 87. So we went in and swam. Eric thought we were crazy.
