Baby Shower
This afternoon three ladies at church hosted a baby shower for Anthony and I. We had a wonderful time. Anthony decided to sleep through most of it, which figures. Anytime I really want him to sleep he won't, and when I would like him to be awake he sleeps. We played games, had cake and opened gifts. Two of the women at church do quilting. Anthony received two gorgeous quilts. One he can use now. It had rockets and primary colors on it. The other one is big enough to use as a bed spread for his toddler bed, once he gets to that stage. What surprised me most is, no one asked me ahead of time what size Anthony was wearing. However, all the clothes we received were 12 months or bigger, so that was just super. He is just about grown out of his 6-9 month clothes, so this shower was perfect timing. It was a great opportunity to get to know some of the other women at church as well.
Out of the House
When Chase was born, I couldn't imagine leaving him and going out. Then if I did, I was calling home to check on him every hour. It is funny how perspective changes with the second child. Miranda called and offered to babysit the boys. I was so excited. We had received an invite to a house party for Saturday night. Miranda came over around 5pm and we headed out. I didn't make a fuss over saying good-bye to Anthony. I barely gave it a second thought. I knew Miranda could handle things. I was just so excited to be going out and spending some one on one time with Eric. I had even forgotten to ask Miranda when she wanted us home. It wasn't until after 8pm that I thought, "I really should call home and see how things are going." I did call home, and Anthony was initiating his aunt. He had just been crying for the last hour. But she finally got him settled down and ready to take a bottle, so all was well. We were at a party where we didn't know anyone except the host. Therefore, it gave Eric and I an opportunity to just sit and talk. It was so great to re-connect and not talk about the kids the whole time. I even drank a beer and a half, and boy was I was looped. Eric thought I was joking. I guess that is what happens after not drinking for 11 months! We ended up coming home by 9pm. I had forgotten one of the parts I needed for my breast pump, and I was hurting. So home we went, and in time to tuck in Chase.
Anthony's 6 Weeks Old Today
Getting Pictures Taken
Eric makes fun of me for wanting to get 6 week old pictures taken, but Anthony will only be this age once! So I made an appointment for Wal-Mart. We headed over this afternoon for a 1:30pm appointment. We get there and of course there is only one person working, so we had to wait 10 minutes. She then says her printer is broken. I told her I did not care if I did not get a print out of the pictures. I had Anthony all dressed up, and I did not want to try this again another day. So she finally gets it all set up. I put Anthony down, and his eyes are slowly closing. Within in a minute he was out cold. I tried tickling his feet, kissing his face, lightly shaking him. There was no waking him. I couldn't believe it. Yesterday, I couldn't get him to take one nap during the day, I guess he was making up for it today. She says we can try again at 3pm. So, I go and do some shopping. At 2:15pm he wakes up and he is hungry. It is too hot to nurse in the car, so we run home. I feed him for 15 minutes, we get back in the car and head back. This time he stayed awake and we were able to get some pictures taken. I was planning on just purchasing the $5.88 package. However, some of the other posses were cute, so I went with their cheapest package of $39.95. I also threw in the disk for another 12 bucks. We just won't eat out this weekend!

Meagan Heads Back to Portland
Meagan headed back west on Friday, August 5th. We had a lot of fun having her here. We hadn't seen her in almost 2 years, so it was a visit long over due! I believe Chase really enjoyed having her here the most, he had a new playmate. Meagan and Chase read books, played on his playset, rode bikes and played pretend together. On Thursday we all managed to get out of the house and went to the zoo. I am afraid that Anthony slept through most of it. Chase had fun feeding the goats and fish. Aunt Meagan took Chase on the train and let him pick out a toy in the gift shop. He picked out a turtle. I didn't even know he liked them! That Thursday night we went to Cheddar's for dinner. Meagan really liked the restaurant when she lived here. On the way there we were joking around saying, what if they changed the menu and didn't have the chicken and potatoes she really wanted. Well, it turned out they had changed the menu! We still stayed and had dinner, but she was disappointed. Then Friday afternoon Eric and Miranda hit the road, and headed to Omaha. They made great time and got Meagan dropped off. Fifteen minutes later Miranda gets a call from Meagan. Her suitcase is 16 lbs. over the weight limit. So they turn around and head back to the airport. Miranda had an extra bag for Meagan to use as a carry on. So Eric had to keep looping around the airport, because the cops wouldn't let him stop. The airport wanted him to pay a dollar to park. They were only going to be there for a minute, so he kept on driving. Meagan finally got situated, and she was able to fly home.
