When It Rains It Pours
Last Tuesday I went to work, and as the morning went on, I started feeling worse and worse. By noon I had a temperature and chills. I decided to go straight to Urgent Care, which normally means hurry up and wait. Surprisingly there were only two people ahead of me. My temp was 101.8 and I was clammy, and by 2pm I also had a sore throat. They drew blood, because the doctor thought I might pneumonia. They then did a throat culture. My white blood cells came back normal. However, I tested positive for strep. So he prescribed antibiotics.Wednesday I worked from home, and felt pretty good. However, during the night my temp spiked again, and by morning I had terrible pain in my chest and shoulders. It actually hurt to breathe. It was a terrible burning sensation. So that afternoon I went back to the doctor. This time I had pharyngitis, which is inflammation of the windpipe. It was all red and swollen. He told me to take extra Tylenol and I could gargle lidocaine. It tasted terrible, so I only endured that two times. Friday I worked from home and tried not to move. Saturday I had pain, but not enough to take Tylenol. When I woke up Sunday morning, the pain was gone and I felt like a new person. It felt so good to move around and be active again, without gasping for air and experiencing pain.
Chase has his 1st Cavity
I was awakened at 2am by Chase screaming. I ran into his room, and he was burning up. I got him some water and a cold wash cloth. I then slept in his bed the rest of the night. When he woke up he was still at 100.5. So I told him I would work from home so he could rest. However, I was still taking him to the dentist.I noticed a few weeks back what looked like a cavity on his back bottom molar. The dentist confirmed it was, and needs to be filled. We go back on Friday to have it filled. I told Chase that his candy filled days are coming to an end. I told him once in awhile he may have a sucker, but then he has to brush right afterwards. He seemed alright with that.
A Fun Weekend
Miranda called earlier in the week and asked if we would be home this weekend. I said we were, so her and Rob decided to head up to visit for the weekend. Friday night was the last night Eddyville Raceway was having midnight drags, and Eric really wanted to go. So Miranda said she would stay home with the boys so we could go.Jody got Eric's car in working order again on Friday, and we stopped in Knoxville to pick it up. Rob and Eric's friend Justin also came with us. Then our friends Melissa and Tom, Steve and Amee and Sherry and Jason also came down to watch. It was a beautiful night for racing, and Eric ran his best time of 7.48, which is 94 mph in 1/8 mile. The best part of the evening was the fact that nothing broke on Eric's car!Saturday turned into a nice day. I decided to take the boys over to church for awhile. We were having "Gracefest." There were 6 Christian contemporary bands playing, they also had food and games. Chase was disappointed, because the inflatables they had to jump on weren't working. The wind was too strong, and they wouldn't stay up. I couldn't talk him into getting his face painted either. So then he got to watch me participate in the mud pie throwing contest and the iron skillet throwing contest. I am proud to say I won the women's division in both events. I had several people ask me if I threw shot put in high school. I guess I should have done that back then. I let Chase pick out my prizes. He went with a banana holder and a vegetable brush cleaner. We then played on the swing set for awhile. When we got home Chase seemed warm. I took his temp and he had a 101 temp. I had him rest and drink water. Miranda wanted to get together with some of her friends, so Rob stayed home with us. He and I ordered Chinese, which made me very happy, since Eric won't eat it. We ended up going to bed early, since we didn't get to bed until 2:30 the night before.Sunday we had a relaxing day for the most part. Miranda and Rob headed back to Kansas City shortly before 1pm. Chase woke up feeling fine, which was good. Then late morning, Anthony started running a temp of 100.5. He actually took two naps on my chest, which he never does. He then took at four nap later. When he woke up his temp was down, but he wasn't his happy self still. Something must be going around.
Chase Starts Preschool
Chase had his first day of school on Tuesday. He did great. Eric and I took him and we found his cubby. Then we put his name tag on. There is a little girl named Madison that he knows. She lives across the street from us, and she is in his class. So he ended up playing with her a lot.We dropped him off at 9am and I pick him up at 11:30am. He said they read a book about a boy named David. His dog ate his homework. He also liked going outside for recess. When we were walking to the car he says, "I have to do my homework." I told him he doesn't have any homework. He says, "I thought that is what happens when you go to school. I have to come home and do my homework right away." It was very cute. I hope he still has that same gusto in a few years!
Labor Day Weekend
We had a successful weekend of camping. We pulled into the campground around 6:15pm. We were set up and I had a fire going around 7:15pm. Our friend Jan showed up in her big 38 ft. Diesel pusher around 7:45pm. She is 7 months pregnant and she drives it like a pro. Her husband was out of town on business, and she really wanted to camp. Anthony crashed at 8pm and I started dinner. Afterwards we roasted marshmallows. Chase gets really excited about roasting them, but then wants no part of eating them! I remember being the same way when I was young. The three of us stayed up talking until midnight. It was a beautiful night, and cooled off to the high 50's. It was wonderful sleeping weather.Anthony was up at 7am. I made breakfast and the boys played in the camper. Later Eric and Chase went to town. We decided he really needed a bigger bike. So they went bike shopping. Chase picked out a pretty neat red and yellow bike, that looks like a mini bike. He will have to grow into it some, but like Eric said, "He isn't going to get any shorter." They were forecasting rain for the day, but it held off until 4pm. Which was good timing, because we were getting ready to go to Knoxville. Kira was going to babysit the boys, so we could go to our friends surprise birthday party. We had a great time catching up with our friends and finally left around 11:30pm. It only sprinkled on us a couple times. When we got back to the campground the sky was clear.Sunday morning we woke up to sunshine and a beautiful morning. We hadn't decided whether we were going to stay Sunday night yet. So we had a leisurely day. Jody and his daughter Sam came out to visit. Chase and Sam had a blast playing at the playground and then in the camper. Later Willy came out to visit too. Finally around 4pm we decided to pack up. I had a lot I wanted to get done at home. We made a good decision, because around 6:30pm the rain came. After unpacking, I went and rented RV with Robin Williams and The Sentinel with Michael Douglas. RV was hilarious. Our stomachs were hurting from laughing so hard. The Sentinel was good as well. We haven't sat down to watch a movie in a long time, and we really enjoyed ourselves.Monday the boys were up at 8am, but Anthony was ready for a nap by 10am. So Eric got up and I went back to bed. I slept until 12:30pm, and it felt so good. It was just what I needed. I then had enough energy to do 3 loads of wash, vacuum and play with the boys!
